NEW food hygiene ratings have been awarded to eight south Essex establishments; the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from five to zero, with five being hygiene standards are very good, and zero being urgent improvement is required.

Here are the establishments in south Essex that have been awarded a new hygiene rating:

Southend:

Hasina Tandoori, at 358 Rayleigh Road, Eastwood, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 15.

The Rosy Lee, at The Rosy Lee Cafe, 1219 London Road, Leigh was given a score of five-out-of-five on May 12.

Cafe Munchies, at 6 Queens Road, Southend was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 10.

Cosy Cafe, at Basement and Ground Floor, 22 Clifftown Road, Southend was given a score of given a score of five-out-of-five on May 9.

Basildon:

Howard Seafood, at Madew, 59 Wash Road, Laindon, Basildon was handed a two-out-of-five rating after assessment on April 5.

Wickford Cafe, at 3-5 The Broadway, Wickford, was given a score of one-out-of-five on April 5.

Castle Point:

Benfleet Yacht Club, a pub, bar or nightclub at Canvey Road, Canvey was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 5.

Anatolian Restaurant, a restaurant, cafe, or canteen at 311 High Road, South Benfleet, was handed a two-out-of-five rating after assessment on April 5
