A BURGLARY in Leigh was a “targeted incident” and the public shouldn’t worry, police have said.

Three people were reported to have forced their way into a property in Broomfield Avenue, Leigh, shortly before 7pm yesterday.

The suspects left the area after the victims forced them out of their property.

Essex Police confirmed they are investigating the burglary and have urged anyone with information or footage relating to the incident to come forward.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “Officers are investigating an aggravated burglary at an address in Leigh-on-Sea.

“It was reported three people forced their way into a property in Broomfield Avenue at around 6.45pm yesterday.

“They threatened the occupants inside but they managed to force them outside where an argument continued. The suspects then left the area.

“We believe this was a targeted incident and it doesn’t pose a wider risk to the public.”

They continued: “If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

“Please quote the crime reference number 42/90168/23.”
