A 21-year-old is due to appear in court today after being charged with attempted murder after a man was shot in the leg in Shoebury.

Officers, including armed response officers, and the ambulance service were called to a car park in Frobisher Way, Shoebury, in the early hours of last Sunday morning, following reports a man had been shot in the leg.

The victim was taken to hospital but, fortunately, he didn’t sustain life-threatening injuries.

An investigation was launched and Essex Police and on Saturday the force confirmed it had arrested a man on Friday.

Adam Valli, 21, of Derifall Close, Beckton, has now been charged with attempted murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable only offence, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

He’s due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court  today.

Police are still urging anyone who may know anything about the incident to come forward.

A spokesman said: “In particular we want to speak to any drivers on the A127 who saw a Mercedes being driven erratically between 1.45am and 2.30am on 14 May.
