The city's much-loved Jazz Centre is set to remain in the Beecroft Gallery.
A draft cabinet report will be considered by policy and resources scrutiny committee on Thursday June 8, and responds to the petition previously received by the council’s cabinet in March.
It recommends that the decision to serve notice on the Jazz Centre UK should be reversed, and a new service level agreement put into place for them to remain at the Beecroft Gallery.

Derek Jarvis, councillor responsible for arts, culture, heritage and leisure, says: “Retaining the Jazz Centre UK in the Beecroft Gallery, a place of national and international significance, is key to our reputation as a cultural destination and key to our visitor offer.
“I am pleased that as an administration we have been able to quickly start the process of both reversing this decision and getting a new agreement in place with the Jazz Centre that will enable them to remain and make an affordable contribution to the council’s costs going forward.
“We must also continue to look at how we ensure the wider archive of the museums and galleries can be used. We can also look at wider opportunities from national bodies to help the service and increase its capacity to display the internationally significant archive that we hold.”
