ARMED police busted down the door of a Great Wakering home in a dramatic early morning raid, where they seized huge wads of cash and Class A drugs.

Essex Police, assisted by firearms officers, carried out the raid in Mercer Avenue at 9.30am Monday morning after being tipped off about the sale of drugs from the property.

Dramatic scenes saw officers bust down the door to gain access before seizing drugs and cash.

It is unclear at this stage how much cash and drugs were seized, however the Echo has asked Essex Police for more information.

A 38-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

They have both since been bailed until July 27.

Daniel Efde, Conservative councillor for Foulness and the Wakerings ward in Rochford, praised the police for their work getting the drugs off the streets.

He said: “It sounds like the police did a really good job with this, so my praise to the officers.

“Hopefully there will be a sentence out of this, and that we can get these people and the drugs off of our streets.

“This isn’t something we want or want to see in Rochford at all.”

Officers from the community policing teams, approved firearms officers, and the dog section were all a part of the raid.

Operation Falcon aims to target suspected drug dealers across the county.

Many of these raids follow weeks’ and months’ worth of investigations by Essex Police.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “A man and a woman have been arrested following a warrant in Great Wakering.
