A POPULAR brunch and cocktail bar in Southend is undergoing a £60,000 refurb to convert the basement into a new restaurant.
Twelve Brunch and Cocktails, in Clifftown Road, currently offers a wide range of cocktails as well as a brunch menu.
However, bosses are now carrying out £60,000 refurbishment which will create a new restaurant in the basement of the business.
It comes after Twelve appointed a new management team to run the popular business earlier this month.
Christopher Brown, the managing director at Twelve Brunch and Cocktails, said: “We are super-excited to bring a new restaurant dining experience to Southend.
“The restaurant will offer the most mouth-watering selection of foods in the most beautiful atmosphere.
“It will complement our popular bottomless brunch parties.”
He added: “The restaurant is going to in the basement of the current site, which is undergoing extensive refurbishment, and will be open from the end of July.
“It will add and change the dimension of Twelve.
“Business has been going well and has the full support of locals too with at least 90 to 100 brunch guests most Saturdays.
“We are looking forward to opening the new restaurant.”
Twelve first opened back in September 2020, it was later renamed as Twelve Brunch and Cocktails in October 2021.
The new restaurant will be open between 6-10pm from Thursday to Saturday. Its menu will be “globally-inspired” and will include a variety of fish and meat produce.
Back in April, Twelve, was banned from playing music after complaints from a neighbour about excessive noise.
Following a licensing review meeting, the venue was told: “No recorded or amplified music shall be played at the premises at any time”.
However, bosses have since confirmed that they are working on soundproofing the site.
Mr Brown added: “We expect the license condition restricting amplified music will be removed soon after soundproofing works are complete. We have had very good support from the council, and environmental health team.”
