AN EXQUISITE Southend club where guests can kick back, relax and step into the world of pure sophisticated jazz and soul music has proven to be a hit.
Aviation Way’s The Lounge threw open its doors back on Valentines Day.
Since then, one of Essex’s leading music venues has pulled in thousands to sit in their soft, velvet chairs with an ice-cold alcoholic beverage in hand, feast on juicy, moth-watering steaks and listen to singers belting out tunes.
Club goers have been quick to heap praise for the classy destination.
One reviewer said: “Wow, what a venue. Very intimate and stunningly fitted out. Friendly staff with great food and drink.”
Another wrote: “The atmosphere is amazing. They have live singers that are absolutely brilliant. I without a doubt will be going again.”
A third penned: “Amazing venue good food excellent staff so relaxing.”
Reacting to its success, Kevin MacDougall, one of the businessmen behind The Lounge, said: “It’s been very good.
“Ticket sales for our events are doing very well and are building up nicely.
“When we have well-known names playing in the club, most of these nights are complete sell-outs.”
Several big names, including 90s sensation Omar Lye-Fook, have performed on their stage and many more have been signed up to come down and entertain customers.
Mr MacDougall said: “It’s a great atmosphere and a fantastic night out where visitors can get really up close and personal with some of the big names in the industry.”
This Friday (June 9), a free 80s and 90s singles party night is being thrown from 7pm to late, where a DJ will be playing tracks from those decades.
On most nights, the jazz club caters for older people who “want to have a good time”, but he adds there are some exceptions for younger people.
“For Father’s Day, we are doing an open day for anyone. Live singers will be playing at the club in the evening as well as in the afternoon and there will be a BBQ,” Mr MacDougall said.
The building which houses the club also boasts a cafe and gym.
