A Benfleet woman who thought she would not afford to go abroad this year is in shock after securing a family holiday to Ibiza for just 24p.

Zoe Clark, from Benfleet, has become the 7th holidaymaker this year to successfully "Bid on a Break" with Jet2holidays, securing a seven-night getaway to Playa Es Figueral in Ibiza.

After placing a bid of just 24p, Zoe Clark was told that she had entered the lowest unique bid.

This meant she had purchased a seven-night getaway with Jet2holidays for two adults and two children to the four-star Invisa Figueral Resort, Ibiza, for that very same price.

Zoe said: “I entered the competition as it's such a great prize - the chance to win a family holiday.  We are self-building our own house and it was very unlikely we would get to go abroad this year.

“I thought this would be a great way to get abroad, but never imagined I would ever win.

“It will be so amazing to get away to Ibiza, I have always wanted to go there. I just can't believe I have won this for 24p, I did actually mean to type £24, but I accidentally pressed enter.

“I had checked the previous few winners and thought I needed to enter a higher price as I had been entering weekly for less than £10. I am still in shock.”

The "Bid for a Break" campaign, which re-launched in April, gives holidaymakers the opportunity to bid for their next holiday for as little as just a few pence. 

Through the campaign, more than 50 holidaymakers have successfully "Bid on a Break" over the past three years, with successful bids starting from as little as 2p.

After being told that they had entered the lowest unique bid in the online auction, the successful bidders buy the holiday for the same price as their bid.

To bid for a break, holidaymakers need to download the Jet2 app and add in their bid to the nearest pence. If they are the only user to bid that amount and that amount is the lowest, they will purchase the holiday for the same price as their bid.

Bidding opens at 9am every Monday and closes at 12pm on a Thursday.
