MINDLESS vandals smashed six car windscreens during a night of destruction outside sheltered accommodation in Laindon.
Residents have been left furious after at least six cars had their windscreens shattered and wing mirrors ripped off by vandals on Tuesday night.
An owner of one of the six damaged cars, Janet Sceats, 67, believed the incident occurred between 9pm and midnight on.

The cars were all parked in the parking area for sheltered accommodation near Devonshire Road, Laindon.
Ms Sceats said adding up the total cost of the damage to all the residents’ cars, it could come to around £3,000.
She said: “The cars were parking in the parking bay opposite Spinneywood.
“Six car windscreens have been smashed. Another had bodywork damaged, and three also have got wing mirror and tyre damage too.
“There is around £3,000 worth of damage between all the cars. We have no CCTV anywhere either, which is surprising for sheltered housing. It is just mindless vandalism.
“We are all extremely angry and can’t believe it. We are also hurt that our cars have been targeted for no apparent reason.
“Our cars are our lifeline to go shopping, visit friends and relatives, and for some of us to get to work.
“We have done nothing to deserve this.”
Essex Police have launched an investigation into these criminal damage reports and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
