FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a blaze at a Canvey home after reports of a lightning strike.
Residents reported hearing a “massive bang” at around 8:30am this morning across Canvey and into Benfleet.
This was during the thunderstorm weather warning put out by The Met Office.
A video posted on social media, and seen by the Echo, showed at least two fire engines and several firefighters at the scene.
Lots of smoke was also coming out of the roof of the home in Waarem Avenue, on Canvey.
Essex Fire has been contacted for comment by the Echo.
