Residents and day-trippers are being urged not to swim at six beaches across Southend after reports of possible pollution in the sea.
The swimming charity Surfers Against Sewage has issued pollution alerts across the city including Shoebury, Southend, Leigh, Westcliff and Chalkwell, as it claims storm sewage has been discharged after this morning's thunderstorm.
Jubilee Beach, Three Shells Beach, Shoebury East Beach, Westcliff Bay, Chalkwell Beach and Leigh Bell Wharf have all been named in the list from the campaigners.

With the warnings for the Leigh, Westcliff, Chalkwell and Southend beaches, Swimmers Against Sewage's website states: "Storm sewage has been discharged from a sewer overflow in this location within the past 48 hours and bathing not advised today due to the likelihood of reduced water quality."
Swimming is not advised at Shoebury East Beach today due to "the likelihood of reduced water quality", as it states there are a number of sewer overflows which discharge within the catchment area.
Surfers Against Sewage monitors the water quality across the nation to keep the public in-the-know of any spots affected by sewage.
Using an interactive map to help illustrate the widespread number of places affected, Surfers Against Sewage have outlined dozens of water spots to avoid across the UK.
