A LEIGH teenager is set to appear at Southend Magistrates' Court today after being charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
It comes after police were called to Rayleigh Road, in Eastwood, shortly after 3.20pm on Monday.
Essex Police said it had been reported an occupant of a car had been involved in an argument with a pedestrian.
As the argument escalated, the occupant of the car sustained a stab wound to his torso and was taken to hospital for injuries treatment which are not life-threatening.
As a result of that incident, the car in which the occupant was travelling then struck the pedestrian, who then left the area.
A 17-year-old from Leigh has now been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates' Court today.
A 20-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of GBH has since been released on bail until September.
The force is continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of it to come forward.
They ask to please cite incident 921 of June 19.
