THE BEAUTIFUL sunshine has come out today ahead of day three of the Leigh Folk Festival.

Here is everything you need to know about what is happening and when this weekend.

The Leigh Folk Festival is the UK’s largest free folk festival and takes place within the walls of picturesque Leigh Library Gardens and in other nearby venues.

There is music, comedy, dancing and so much more. 

The event kicked off on Thursday evening with poetry by candlelight at an open mic event at Saint Clement’s Church.

There was also music at Twenty One, Southend, with Karma Please and followed up by performances from Eumig, Adrian Lane, A’Bear and Lia Mice.

On Friday evening at Café Bar Hogar Del Mar there was a sing-around event.

While Library Gardens hosted a ticketed comedy event with Little Smash Comedy.

Today, the daytime activities are set to kick of with The Daisy Bowlers who are set to perform on the main stage at 11.30 followed by The Famous Potatoes at 12.20.

Over at the lower stage the Mudlarks and feel-goods choir perform at midday and the song school will take place at the Library Stage throughout the day.

At The Fishermen’s Chapel in New Road there is a ticketed event included performances from Seaming To, Gwenifer Raymond and Maria Uzor.

The event will then go into its final day tomorrow, with the early performances on the Main Stage including Grand Reunion and Goodnight Crow.

Dance shows take place throughout the day at the Library Stage with performances of Morris, clog, flamenco, and Bollywood.

In the afternoon the stage will be brought to life with music from the likes of Arfur Doo and the Toerags and MG Boulter Tri and The Dusty Peddlers, plus many more.

There will be series of workshops such as Ukulele lessons, joining the festival choir, to arts and crafts.

The food market in Leigh Library Gardens will keep revellers fed with a mix of cuisines, savoury and sweet, coffee and ice cream from Rossi.
