LONDON’S longest running magic show is heading to south Essex this weekend featuring a multi-awarding winning Rochford magician.
West End Magic has been at the Leicester Square Theatre for the last ten years and to celebrate the decade it is now on a nationwide tour.
This weekend there is a two-hour show at the Red Brick Barn, in Rochford, on both Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 3pm.
It will feature the multi-award-winning magician and magic circle member Oliver Tabor, 45, from Rochford.
Oliver is the current president of the International Brotherhood of Magicians in the UK and a former European and British magic champion.
The Rochford man first got into magic after a trip to Hamleys Toy Store when he was 12 years old.
Oliver said there was a counter selling magic tricks, where a staff member performed a card trick for him and he then fell in love with magic.
He later received a box of magic tricks for Christmas and performed a show for his family.
When he left school, he worked at a magic shop in London where Oliver said, “he learnt so much”.
Since Oliver has worked for holiday centres, theatres, cruise ships and now has his own show in London called West End Magic at the Leicester Square theatre.
Oliver said: “The show is all about variety and being family friendly. Anyone from a toddler to a 100-year-old will enjoy it which is what variety is all about.
“We have one mission with this show and that is to entertain in a way the audience has never been entertained before.
“You will see things that’ll make your jaw drop, but there’s also glamour and comedy.
“We want people to leave happy and chatting about the show knowing they have seen something unique, something they will always remember.”
Every show is compered by comedy magician Wayne Trice and will also feature guest acts.
