A RUTHLESS thug has been jailed for 10 years after subjecting children to a "terrifying" aggravated burglary in Basildon.

Hinzague Hanson, 23, of Gravesend, Kent, was one of a group of men who forced their way into a home.

A women and her children were inside at the time of the raid in July 2021.

Hanson was also convicted of stabbing a man in a steet fight in Kent.

DC John Carless, said: “Hanson has tried to make excuses for his actions but has shown himself to be a violent and dangerous individual, seemingly oblivious to the serious harm he has inflicted upon the victim he stabbed.

“His female victim and children in the burglary were also subjected to a truly terrifying ordeal and left fearing for their lives.

"He is quite rightly now facing a significant time in prison.”

Hanson was initially arrested as part of a Kent Police investigation into a serious assault the previous day in Dartford High Street.

Hanson had been in a fight with the victim, which was linked to drugs and a dispute involving associates of the man.

He grabbed the victim by his clothing and thrust what was reported to be a flick knife into his abdomen, leaving him with injuries which included damage to a kidney.

Hanson then fled the scene and following his arrest, the next day, claimed the victim had initially threatened him with the knife.

He insisted the victim was disarmed and he used the weapon in self-defence.

Hanson was charged with unlawful wounding and pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court.

He was sentenced last month to 10 years imprisonment of which two years were for the assault and eight for the burglary.
