THE MAN behind of one Leigh’s most successful Indian restaurants is “forever in the customers’ debt” after receiving three decades of support.

London Road’s Mughal Dynasty is celebrating a historic milestone this year as it marks 30 years since opening.

Despite the mouth-watering spicy foods and the high standards of customer service, the true secret – according to the owner Nazam Uddin, 60 – to the fine dining eatery’s success is the devotion of the guests who keep coming back.

He said: “My customers are a big asset to me, and it’s them who have kept us going for 30 years.

“I feel really proud, and their love and support fill me with absolute pride.

“A massive thank you to you all for coming back to the Mughal Dynasty again and again; if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here. You are all appreciated so much by me and the team.”

Since April 9, 1993, guests have been indulging in the spicy, creamy aromas from dishes, all set in a comfortable and stylish space.

Right from the beginning, families have been coming in and have been left wanting more of the Indian cuisine experience offered by Mr Uddin and his team.

The 60-year-old said: “The first couple of days of business were very slow because not many people were coming in.

“However, when we did get guests, they enjoyed the food and service, and they spread the word to others.

“After about a month or so, trade really picked up and that’s when we went on to be successful.

“As well as the support from my customers, the word of the mouth also had a big impact. All in all, it’s the community that have helped do what we do, and I’m forever grateful.”

When Mr Uddin moved to Leigh as a teenager, he worked in his nearest Indian restaurant.

It was the experience he honed there that inspired him to take a leap and start his own business.

Mughal Dynasty opens from 5pm Monday to Sunday.
