A BAKERY chain has started a recruitment drive for its new Basildon retail park store.
Greggs is one of several big-name brands gearing up to open for business on Miles Grey Road’s St Hilary’s Retail Park.
According to the firm’s careers search website, it is currently serving up two permanent shop supervisor positions, with one covering evenings.
Both roles offer an hourly rate of £11.41, a colleague discount of up to 50 per cent off own-branded products and a career progression, learning and development programme.
Contracted 30 to 39 hours, supervisors are responsible for managing the shop when the manager is unavailable and keeping the team engaged and motivated to deliver a “fast and friendly service”.
However, shift pattern and availability can be discussed at the interview.
The closing date for applications is July 28.
However, bosses are keeping tight-lipped on a firm date when the doors of the new store will throw open.
A Greggs spokesperson said: “We are currently hiring for Greggs supervisors at the unit three St Hilary’s Retail Park, Basildon shop, set to open later this year.”
It follows Greggs recently being given the green light from Basildon Council to install three air conditioning units at its building.
Last month, the world’s largest coffee house chain Starbucks was granted planning permission by the town council to convert one of the remaining units at the retail park.
It will boast 96 seats inside, plus 12 outside.
Earlier this month, the Echo revealed that Canadian fast food chain Tim Hortons, who are building a drive-thru restaurant on Miles Grey Road, has a projected autumn opening.
Workers have laid down the grey brick floor pathway that surrounds the restaurant, windows have been installed around the bottom half of the building and the main double-doors have been fitted.
One of the drive-thru booths has also been installed, with the sliding window still needing to be put into place.
