A WOMAN has been arrested after a man suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a car.
Essex Police has launched an investigation after a man in his 30s was hit by a car in Pendle Drive, Basildon.
The incident, which is understood to have occurred just before 3.40pm on Friday, resulted in the victim sustaining a serious injury to his arm.
Essex Police officers have now arrested a 31-year-old woman from Basildon on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent following the incident.
Labour councillor for the area David Kirkman said he was “shocked and saddened” to learn of the incident.
He also sent his well-wishes to the man and his family.
He added: “My thoughts are with the victim and anyone related to them at this time.
“I would urge anyone with information to come forward and assist the police.”
Officers investigating the circumstances have urged anyone with information which could assist their inquiries to come forward.
A force spokesman said: “We are appealing for information following a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.
“It was reported a man in his 30s was in collision with a vehicle in Pendle Drive shortly before 3.40pm yesterday.
“He sustained a serious arm injury.
“A 31-year-old woman from Basildon has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and is currently in custody.
“If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.
