A DRIVER has been arrested after a car smashed through a barrier and plummeted from the A127 during a shocking crash.
Essex Police was called to reports of a crash at the Fairglen Interchange on the A1245 at about 4.55pm on Sunday.
At the scene, a car was found on its roof, after it had collided with the crash barrier on the A127 above and fallen down to the road below.
The two occupants of the car, a man and woman in their 20s, were taken to hospital with injuries.
The driver, a 25-year-old man, has since been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs, driving without a license, driving while disqualified and driving dangerously.
He has been released under investigation.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called to reports of a collision at the Fairglen Interchange on the A1245 at about 4.55pm on Sunday 9 July.
“At the scene we found a car on its roof, which reportedly collided with the crash barrier and fell onto the road below.
“The two occupants of the car, a man and woman both in their 20s, were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing.
“The driver, a 25-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs, driving without a license, driving while disqualified and driving dangerously. He has been released under investigation.
