AN APPEAL has been launched following a failed police chase after a car was involved in a crash while going the wrong way around a roundabout in Pitsea.

Essex Police is appealing for the public’s help following a fail to stop pursuit and crash in Pitsea yesterday evening.

Officers were on patrol at around 10:30pm when they witnessed a car going the wrong way around a roundabout on Rectory Road in Pitsea. 

The car, a Silver Renault Clio was then involved in a crash with another car. 

Essex Police pursued the car for a short while before it travelled out of site down a footpath.

Officers are now urging anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward.

They believe the car may have damage to the front.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are appealing for the public's help following a fail to stop pursuit and collision in Pitsea yesterday evening. 

“Officers were on patrol at around 10:30pm when they witnessed a car going the wrong way around a roundabout on Rectory Road in Pitsea. 

“The car, a Silver Renault Clio was then involved in a minor collision with another car. 

“Officers pursued the vehicle for a short while before it travelled out of sight down a footpath between Burn Mills Road and Harvey’s Road. 

“Enquiries are ongoing, and officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this or have any dashcam or CCTV to get in contact. It's possible that the car has been parked up somewhere with damage to the front. 

“Please quote incident 1466 of 12 July when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible.
