SOUTHEND Airport’s first-ever music and beer festival is set to be held inside the Vulcan hangar next month to raise cash for charity.
The Vulcan Restoration Trust will be hosting the new festival with performances from artists, street food, and locally brewed beers.
This is the first event of its kind to be held on the airport grounds and is all in aid of the Vulcan Restoration Trust.
It will be held inside the hangar at Southend Airport to celebrate the Vulcan XL426.
Jamie Keene, part of the events committee at the Vulcan Restoration Trust, said: “We are really excited - this a new event for 2023.
“It is a community-based event, run by volunteers, to raise money to go into maintaining the XL426.
“It gives people a great opportunity for people to see the aircraft in the evening as on our normal open days we usually close at 4pm.
“We have got music artists and bands all from the south Essex area, as well as local food vendors and local breweries.
“Obviously not only will we be raising money for the charity, but it is also supporting local businesses and bands which I think is important.
“Everything is welcome, and it is just something a bit different for people to enjoy.”
It will be held across two days on Friday, August 4, and Saturday, August 5, from 2-10.30pm.
Admission to the music and beer festival at the Vulcan is £18 each day for adults, and £4 for accompanied under-18s.
This will include a complimentary festival beer glass, and £3 off your first pint with Black Box Brewery.
Alongside this, as part of the event there are local breweries, Pimms, Prosecco, cocktail, and gin bars, as well as live music and street food vendors.
Mr Keene added: “Events like this are vitally important for the trust.
“Every penny goes back into the charity and maintaining the Vulcan. We are run solely on volunteers.
“Our volunteers are vital the charity can only exist because of the people that give up their free time.”
The Vulcan Restoration Trust says there will also be free parking available.
Tickets are on sale via the Trust website.
