CHALKWELL Park’s much-loved annual funfair is set to return next month with thrills and spills for all the family.

The yearly event is running from Thursday, August 3 to Saturday, August 12.

Organisers have also said August 7, 9 and 11 will be “crazy price days” where all rides will be fixed at £1.50.

Attractions are set to include family-favourites, such as dodgems, a carousel and a ghost train.

Entry to the fair will cost £1, with all the profits going to Southend Mencap.

The non-profit organisation’s aim is to serve the interests and needs of those with learning disabilities, as well as their parents and carers.

Chalkwell fair will be open Monday to Saturday from 1pm to 10pm, and on Sundays between 1pm and 8pm.

Nigel Folkard, Chalkwell ward Conservative councillor said: “It’s fantastic news.

“It’s something families very much enjoy yearly and drives revenue to the city.”

A Visit Southend spokesman said: “Chalkwell Fair is back. The annual event runs from August 3 to August 12 and is a sure fire hit for all the family. Featuring all your favourite attractions.”
