A THEATRE in Essex is set to celebrate more than two decades of movie magic with a complete screening of a famous film series. 

Halstead's Empire Theatre will screen every Harry Potter film throughout August, with the finale taking place on September 1. 

The movie marathon, celebrating more than 23 years since the young wizard first hit our screens, will begin with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Launching on August 2, a range of Harry Potter prizes will also be up for grabs for those who attend the showings.

All screenings will begin at 2pm, with tickets for £3.00. 

A spokesman from the Empire Theatre said: "With the school holidays just underway we thought of it as an ideal opportunity to show all of the eight films in the series, so that those who may not have discovered Harry Potter, and those who have, can come and enjoy the experience on the big screen.

"We will also be running some Harry Potter competitions and prize draws to run alongside the season of films."

The movies will continue every week, with no booking necessary.
