A man has been arrested after two police units rushed to a "disturbance" at an address in Southend.

Essex Police's operational support group (OSG) were called to help Southend police officers with an "emergency response disturbance" at an address in the city on Sunday (July 30).

One of the operational support group's units stayed with the victim while another located the suspect.

The suspect, a man, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

An Essex OSG spokesman tweeted: "We assisted Essex Police Southend with an emergency response disturbance at an address in Southend.

"One of our units has completed safeguarding with the victim whilst another unit has located the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of assault ABH."

Essex Police's OSG officers receive specialist training in public order, taser deployment, warrant execution and pursuit management.

The team is deployed to assist in the execution of warrants where officers are trained to gain entry using a number of different methods.

They also patrol communities to gather intelligence to reduce and detain offenders within crime hotspots.
