THERE are delays on the A13 following reports of horses on the carriageway. 

Emergency services have been dealing with reports of a number of horses loose on the A13 eastbound. 

This is between Pitsea and Sadlers Farm.

It is believe the road is now clear, however, there are still delays due to the incident. 

Police had to hold the traffic while attempted to clear the horses off the carriageway. 

AA Traffic News said: "A13 eastbound - horses on the eastbound carriageway between Pitsea and Sadlers Farm.

"Police on scene and holding traffic to try to clear the carriageway."

UPDATE

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called shortly before 5.30am to the area of the A13 at the Saddlers Farm Roundabout, Basildon, to reports of a single-vehicle collision.

“It was reported a car had left the road and damaged nearby fencing bordering a field, allowing a number of horses to access the carriageway.

“Thankfully, thanks to the work of officers quickly on the scene, the horses were safely back on the field by 6.50am.

“The driver of the car has suffered injuries which are not life-threatening or life-changing. He was taken on to hospital for further checks.”
