A NEW restaurant is set to open on the hill of the Arches in Westcliff, giving “panoramic views of the estuary”.
Prowse is a venue specialising in British and Turkish cuisine, which will be located at 5 and 6 Shorefield Road in Westcliff, sitting above the iconic Arches.
It will be family-run and is set to open next Saturday.
Owners and also brothers-in-law David Prowse, 44, and Cetin Tastekin, 36, are taking on this new venture alongside the rest of their family.
The pair previously owned a bar and restaurant together in Turkey but are looking to expand into the UK.
Mr Prowse said: “We are very excited at the prospect of running a successful restaurant in Westcliff which will provide quality food to our customers for many years to come.
“The location is on the hill of the Arches, so the premises gives panoramic views of the estuary.
“We are aiming to offer a family restaurant with a feelgood factor. We will have live music some nights and entertainment. Our priority is to ensure that our customers leave the premises having thoroughly enjoyed their visit.”
The restaurant is located in the former site of The Flying Pasta. The Italian restaurant announced on Friday it would not be re-opening as the restaurant had been sold.
Prowse will serve various seafood dishes, steaks, as well as Turkish specialities. There will be an emphasis on barbecue grill with that “special taste”. They are also aiming to opening for breakfast, both English and traditional Turkish, as well as Sunday roast dinners.
Bosses say there are also a variety of vegetarian and vegan options.
Opening hours will begin at 9am for breakfast, followed by lunch serving from noon until 2pm, before dinner starts at 5pm, and the kitchen closing at 10pm.
However, there will be options for drinks later in the evening when the kitchen is closed.
Bosses are also on the hunt for local artists to display their work within the new restaurant.
Mr Prowse added: “We have already spoken to several local artists. Part of the decoration of the restaurant will be to provide a platform for them to display their art.
“We want this to be a community effort. This will not only be on canvas but also sculptures, photography, and other mediums.
“There has been a massive response and we are so excited.”
