A HUGE brawl erupted outside a Benfleet pub which left a police officer injured.
Essex Police was called to the Zach Willsher pub in Benfleet at around 9:30pm last night.
This followed reports of a large disturbance.
On arrival, officers say they found a large number of people fighting with some sustaining minor injuries.
A police officer was also assaulted at the scene.
In a video, seen by the Echo, a large police presence was seen at the scene.
Two arrests were made. A 19-year-old man and a 56-year-old man remain in custody.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers were called to the Zach Willsher pub in Benfleet at around 9:30pm on Thursday, 17 August following reports of a large disturbance.
“On attendance, officers found a large number of people fighting with some sustaining minor injuries.
“One of our officers was assaulted at the scene, sustaining minor injuries.
“A 19-year-old man from Canvey Island was arrested on suspicion of affray and assault. He remains in custody.
“A 56-year-old man from Benfleet was arrested on suspicion of common assault against an emergency services worker. He remains in custody.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
