A man has been arrested after an early hours police chase from a major Southend road into a residential area.

Police are appealing for any additional information to identify a suspect after the car failed to stop for police at about 3am in London Road on Tuesday August 29.

A driver was signalled to stop by officers but continued to drive.

After a pursuit into a residential area in the city, two people left the car and fled police on foot.

One man has now been arrested.

Police also returned the vehicle to the registered owner’s address, where the occupant confirmed it had been stolen previously.

Anyone with information, or any doorbell or dashcam footage in Byrne Drive and the surrounding area, should contact police with incident number 90 of Tuesday August 29.
