TRADERS and police have warned youngsters planning to cause trouble in Southend to think twice about their actions.
Large groups of young people have gathered on the Southend seafront several times during summer.
Social media footage shows another planned ‘motive’ for Friday, September 8.
These incidents have seen a greater police presence along the seafront and at train stations, as well as dispersal orders put in place.
Martin Richardson, owner of Happidrome Arcade, said the youngsters are welcome as long as they do not misbehave.
He said: “A few times we’ve seen young people behaving with a pack mentality by running up and down the seafront to cause trouble.
“That won't be tolerated by our residents and if they want to do that they should just stay in London.
“I know for a fact that the police are going to have a very tough approach on this and we will be discussing what needs to be done.”
A dispersal order was issued on August 1 as yobs caused mayhem on the seafront resulting in businesses closing early.
Further problems were expected on August 10 with another dispersal order put in place.
Paul Thompson, owner of Pebbles One Café, commended police for their previous work and said he expects more of the same.

He said: “Last time they tried to meet up police were proactive in stopping it from happening with early dispersal orders and turning away troublemakers at stations.
“To be honest the youngsters have been doing this around the country but police have contained them well.
“During the summer months we take on additional security and remain aware of what’s going on around us.
“If we have to adapt then that’s what we’ll do.”
Jo Collins, District Commander for Southend, added: “This weekend is set to be hot and sunny, and Southend will be open for business but closed for crime.
“We want people to come to our wonderful city to enjoy themselves in our fantastic bars and restaurants and have a great time at our brilliant beaches.
“But if you’re planning to come here and cause trouble – my message to you is don’t bother, because we’ll be waiting for you.
“We’re aware of information on social media relating to a potential gathering here on Friday and we have plans in place to deal with it.”
