A “DRUNKEN lout” involved in a mass brawl after a night out in Rayleigh High Street has been jailed for eight months.
Cody Hurren, 24, of no fixed address, admitted five counts of assault by beating after the fight which left one victim with cuts and bruises and another bleeding.
The “chaotic scenes” unfolded outside The Pink Toothbrush nightclub on March 12 at around 3.15am.
Yesterday Basildon Crown Court heard how a witness who tried to de-escalate the situation was punched, while another witness was punched in the face.
Hurren was also initially charged with one count of sexual assault. However his not guilty plea was accepted at a previous hearing and the charge dropped.

Edward Lewis, prosecuting, said: “The scenes were chaotic and the defendant was very drunk and behaving rather crudely, like a drunken lout.
“A woman and her friend had gone to the kebab cafe across the road from the nightclub and were at the counter ordering food when the defendant came up to them.
“He started playing around with the victim and she seemed to be consenting at the start of the CCTV footage, but she was very drunk. The woman decided she did not want the defendant’s attention anymore and made that clear however he continued trying to kiss her and put his arms on her.”
The court heard a witness saw this and tried to de-escalate the situation but Hurren “delivered a powerful and effective left hook” causing him to fall on the floor with bruising and cuts.
According to the prosecution, Hurren took off his shirt and started shouting at people when two people went to check on him.
They were both struck in the face by a flippant hand causing one to bleed.
The court heard Hurren then went outside the kebab shop and started arguing with members of the public, punching one on the chin and forcing him to fall backwards.
Hurren was arrested at the scene.
Nick Barraclough, mitigating, said: “Mr Hurren hasn’t had the best of starts to life to put it lightly.
“It seems there was a lot of abuse and instability in his upbringing with no proper care.
“He has taken it upon himself to seek further support from mental health services.
“I ask for one more chance to allow him continued access to these services.”
Hurren was jailed for eight months.
