A dispersal order will be in place on Canvey this weekend after police received information suggesting a large car meet is due to take place.
The order will be in place from 8pm on Friday (September 22) until 8pm on Sunday (September 24).
It will give officers powers to direct anyone suspected of causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area or face arrest.
Inspector David Kealy, of Castle Point and Rochford community policing team said: “We are taking this action to keep the public safe and avoid anti-social behaviour which, because of the noise and type of driving associated with these events, means our local residents suffer despite there being a Public Space Protection Order in place.

“In the past, the roads have been used for racing, creating a serious risk to all involved.
“Taking this action will hopefully prevent the event from taking place but gives officers the power to direct anyone believed to be taking part to leave the area to ensure the safety of the public using our roads.”
The area covered by the dispersal order is bounded by Roscommon Way, Canvey Road, Haven Rd, Romainville Way and Northwick Road and shown on the attached map.
