TWO drug gangs have been dismantled as six dealers were caged for a total of 25 years after a series of drug busts.
The two gangs - which operated the “Jay and Mus” drug lines - flooded south Essex with cocaine and cannabis and earning up to £13,000 a week.
In March this year, seven addressed were raided in Southend, Rochford and Benfleet, and police seized 239 wraps and a lump of cocaine, cannabis plants and 8768 cannabis buds - together worth more than £25,000.
Designer trainers worth £12,600 were seized as well as a bracelet valued at £37,440, while officers also recovered two knives, a hammer, several phones and unused syringes.
Police found evidence that the gangs offered to pay new drivers £240 a day - the equivalent of £62,400 a year for a five-day week.
On Friday, six members of the two gangs were jailed at Basildon Crown Court.
Sergeant Adam Jarvis said: “The members of both gangs thought they were above the law until my officers caught up with them.
“Thanks to the weight of evidence we gathered, they had no choice but to admit to their criminal activities when they appeared at court and were sentenced accordingly.
“We don’t tolerate those who prey on vulnerable people and we will continue to investigate reports of drug dealing when they are brought to our attention.
“So we need you to report what you know about drug dealing or anything related to that. You can do this via our website www.essex.police.uk or by ringing 101.”
