A VIOLENT rapist has been jailed for 11 years after forcing himself on a woman in Southend.
Connor George, 29, arrived at the victim’s home in Southend uninvited in November 2022, armed with a folding knife.
A “nasty argument” broke out between the victim and George, before she attempted to call police while in a state of panic.
On Friday, Basildon Crown Court heard George began groping the victim before pulling off her clothes and raping her.
Witnesses called the police and George was arrested and interviewed at Southend Police Station.
George admitted possessing the knife and claimed he had it for work.
George initially denied the rape, and attempted to claim he was not the person heard on the recording, before later admitting it was him.
He told officers the victim was “acting”, however a jury convicted him on a majority of ten to two.
Prosecuting, Mitchell Cohen, said: “The victim said Mr George was hurting her and she started crying before managing to activate a camera which captured audio.
“The recording was played in court during the trial and was harrowing.”
A victim impact statement was read to the court.
It said: “Following the incident I am constantly in fear and anxious, I am always watching over my shoulder.
“I am also more cautious with new people which has affected my relationships with friends and my ability to make new friends as I am unable to trust people.”
George was jailed for 11 years for rape and possession of a bladed article following the sentencing hearing on Friday.
Bethan Rogers, mitigating, said: “This man was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and as a result he has fallen through the cracks and not received proper treatment.
“Consequently poor behaviour habits have developed.
“As he keeps denying the incident, he cannot receive the proper help he needs.”
