“MEGA crowds” flocked to Southend seafront as the spectacular fireworks display returned for its second weekend.
The popular free event returned last weekend to big success, and last night was no different.
Last night continued this trend, with “mega crowds” at the seafront to enjoy the event’s second weekend.
A spokesman for popular seafront theme park Adventure Island said it was another week of “incredible city fireworks”.
They added: “It was fantastic to see the mega crowds gathered tonight to see the spectacular show.
“Don’t forget there will be six more displays, every Saturday until November 18.”
Last night’s event marked the second of eight consecutive weekends of the free seafront fireworks.
Having previously been organised by Southend’s Business Improvement District (BID), the event’s future was previously left in limbo.
After the event was thrown into doubt earlier this year, traders have come together to form a “seaside partnership” to fund the fireworks alongside Southend Council and with support from the city’s business improvement district (BID).
Each display is about ten minutes and are set to end on November 18 to coincide with the Christmas light switch-on event.
The dates for the fireworks are every Saturday continuing next weekend.
They will then be on October 14, October 21, October 28, November 4, November 11, and November 18.
