The Met Office has issued an almost 24-hour yellow weather warning for rain which covers all of Essex.
Experts have warned, from 9pm today until 8pm tomorrow, heavy rain and strong winds may cause some disruption to travel during Friday.
While the warning is in place, forecasters have told residents to expect spray and flooding on roads which will probably making journey times longer, flooding of a few homes and businesses, and bus and train services affected with journey times taking longer.
Here is the hour-by-hour forecast for Southend, Basildon, Rochford and Castle Point while the warning is in place:
9pm and 10pm - Cloudy with just a 10 per cent chance of rain
11pm - 50 per cent chance of light rain
12am - Cloudy, 20 per cent chance of rain
1am - 50 per cent chance of light rain
2am to 5am - 90 per cent chance of heavy rain
6am to 8am - 50 per cent chance of light rain, heavy rain in some places
9am - Cloudy with a 10 per cent chance of rain
10am - 40 per cent chance of light shower, heavy rain in some places, overcast in Rochford and Castle Point
11am - 50 per cent chance of light rain, heavy rain in some places, overcast in Rochford and Castle Point
12pm - 40 per cent chance of light shower
1pm to 3pm - Cloudy with a 10 per cent chance of rain
4pm - 50 per cent chance of light rain
5pm - 50 per cent chance of light shower
6pm - 60 per cent chance of light rain, heavy rain in some places
7pm - 80 per cent chance of heavy rain
8pm - 60 per cent chance of light rain
