THE SPOOKIEST house in south Essex has officially unveiled its Halloween attractions – including a large inflatable haunted home shipped all the way from China.
Rosie Wiggins and Mark Bueltemann, who live in Elizabeth Gardens, Rochford, have been going all out for Halloween for the last six years.
However, this year they have gone a step further and the usual “light decorations” have been replaced with a large inflatable haunted house decked out with UV lights and a mist machine on top of the decorations covering their home.
The couple are raising money for Parkinson’s UK with the haunted house and are set to be joined by neighbours in their estate who are aiming to decorate their homes for Halloween. Mr Bueltemann said: “It’s grown each year, in the first year there were just a few bits out but now it’s got bigger and bigger.”
Mr Bueltemann added that the past Halloween events the family have run outside their house have been massively popular, with “kids coming from all over the place” to get a look at the couple’s array of haunted decorations.
“It’s not just for kids, adults love it and cars have been queuing to get in,” Mr Bueltemann said, adding that they “gave away over 400 sweets last year.”
Mr Bueltemann and Ms Wiggins’ past events have been such a success in their community, they felt it was time to turn their attention into something great for charity.
“My mum passed away from Parkinson’s last year, which was the catalyst to start it all off,” Mr Bueltemann said.
Parkinson’s UK have officially licensed the Halloween charity drive the couple have planned.
The focus of this years haunted house is a community collaboration with “neighbours helping out and dressing up,” as scare actors to add to their house of horror.
Furthermore, Tesco have agreed to donate sweets to the family to hand out on Halloween, which is another welcome community addition to the event.
Other neighbours and members of the community have also contributed to the charity drive, with houses surrounding the families’ home putting up lights and decorations to create a Halloween trail.
The couple plan to unleash their full Halloween wonderland on October 31, with donations being taken on the couples Just Giving page and in person.
