A DUTCH sail training ship has moored alongside Southend pier for one day only.
The Eendracht schooner docked at the world’s longest pleasure pier at midday on Wednesday and set sail early yesterday (October 26) morning.
Members of the public could not climb on board the 58.1m vessel, but they were encouraged to travel down to the city attraction and get some snaps of the three-masted schooner.
The ship, designed by W. de Vries Lentsch, was built in 1989 at the Damen shipyard and has sailed continuously ever since.
She is now used as a sail training ship which is being done to give young people the chance to get an introduction to the sea.
It boasts eight-two person and six four-person cabins, all of which is equipped with a washbasin and private dressing areas.
The ship also includes 10 showers and 11 toilets, which are communal.
