A former family-run Westcliff store dating back to 1950 which shut its doors this year could be transformed into a Domino's takeaway.
The Army and Navy store at 297 London Road closed down earlier this year after 73 years selling combat clothing, bomber jackets, outfits for cadets, and much more, as owner Brian Burns retired the business.
Now, a change of use application has been submitted to Southend Council to covert the shop into a hot food takeaway.

While the application does not explicitly state the new takeaway would become a Domino's, DPSK Limited - the firm behind the bid - are understood to be the operators of the pizza chain, and are behind numerous Domino's branches across the country.
There are currently two Domino's locations in Southend - one Earls Hall Parade and one in Ness Road, Shoebury.
If approved, the existing shopfront would be retained and finished in traffic grey, while the entrance door and windows are set to be replaced. The plans also state extraction and ventilation equipment would be installed.
Southend Council will decide on the plans.
