A freedom of information request act has revealed the numbers and details of UFO reports between 2018 and 2023 - with Basildon being the most plagued with sightings and incidents in south Essex.

Locations of UFO sightings in south Essex reported to Essex Police include the M25, Basildon, Southend, Rochford and Billericay.

There are four incidents reported from Basildon, the descriptions of a craft in 2018 describe a “big, faded ball of light going in and out of clouds above it” while the ball makes “strange manoeuvres” and flies through the clouds.

Another incident in 2019 from Basildon describes a “high pitched noise” before the UFO vanished after hovering for “12-14 minutes.”

One caller to the police in Southend from 2020 believes he saw a chase between two aircraft and a UFO, adding that he “knows what things go on in this world behind the scenes” and believed it to be a "strange sighting".

In Rochford in 2021, a resident reported seeing a "metal structure which looked like a long oblong bird" above them - which disappeared when glanced at.

In total, 29 reports were made to Essex Police during this period between 2018 and 2023 across the entirety of Essex.
