SOUTHEND Coastguard is monitoring storm Ciaran as it heads towards south Essex.
According to reports, storm Ciaran is expected to hit south Essex over Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.
This could bring extremely strong winds and gusts over 50mph.
Southend Coastguard has said urged residents to "not take risks" if the weather and conditions look bad.
A spokesman said: "We are closely watching storm Ciaran which is expected to impact our area over Wednesday night into Thursday which could bring extremely strong winds and gusts over 50mph which will impact our coastline.
"Whilst we are monitoring the approaching storm please don’t let this Halloween haunt you forever and heed this advice across this week:
"Postpone and stay home – if the weather and conditions look bad for your trip to the coast. If in doubt, don’t take the risk.
"Stay away from breaking waves – avoid exposed beaches, cliffs, coastal paths, promenades and harbours where large waves can sweep you out to sea in an instant.
"Risking your life for a photo is always a no – don’t ever be tempted. Keep a safe distance from the sea."
