A boy has been arrested in connection with an ongoing arson investigation in south Essex.
Police received a report of a firework being set off in a vehicle in Rayleigh Road, Brentwood on October 14.
The incident caused damage to two cars as well as a nearby property.
Investigating officers arrested a 16-year-old boy on Saturday on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with this investigation. He remains in custody.
Chief Inspector Tina Cooper said: “This was a dangerous incident which caused a lot of damage and could have seriously injured someone.
“The investigation has remained a priority and last night, one of our officers made a proactive stop and arrested a boy in connection with this investigation.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and we would like to thank the members of the public who have supported with this investigation so far.”
