When brothers Adam and Daniel Malik opened the doors to Beaumont Coffee Club two months ago there was already anticipation from people in the area.
The café located at Victoria Ave, is a large premises which serves breakfast, lunch and a small dinner menu, plus great coffee and cakes.
It had previously closed and the pair took it over and reopened it in September.
“This is our first venture into business, and it has been a great two months,” said Adam, 27, who previously worked in finance.
“When we took over the premises, and were working on, it lots of people would walk past and ask us when we were opening and were excited about it. It had closed after lockdown and people were interested to see what was going to happen.”
When I went to visit the café on a Friday afternoon it was heaving with customers all enjoying the tasty looking food on the menu, such as burgers, bagels, jacket potatoes, sandwiches and cold salads and pasta.
Daniel has spearheaded the business decision and has lots of plans for the future, including introducing a full dinner menu and TVs to screen big sports events.
What have been the favourite dishes on the menu?
“So far it has been the dynamite prawns and the salt and pepper chicken, people have been loving those. We also have a weekend special each week offering something a bit different,” said Adam.
For now, the business duo are happy with the name of the venue but may change it in the future.
“We are keeping an open mind and may change the name as the business progresses.”
Taste test
Keen to try out one of the 'chef specials' on the menu I chose the salt and pepper chicken to takeaway.
The salt and pepper chicken had a nice outer coating and packed some heat, but it was not overpoweringly. The chips were delicious with a spicy coating of onions and chillies.
The café is open seven days a week, Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm, Friday and Saturday 8am to 9pm and Sunday 9am to 9pm.
