Singing, acting, and street dance - plus a whole heap of fun - are all part of the weekly sessions are Freestyle Theatre School.

Here's a insight into the fun theatre classes last week which run in Basildon, Leigh, Thorpe Bay, Westcliff, Benfleet, Maldon.

Freestyle Theatre Schools was established in 2012 by principal Jake Debono-Wilson, a professional dancer who performs on some of the most amazing stages worldwide.

Among their alumni is Southend popstar Heidi Boualili - AKA HEIDI - who has signed a record deal with Universal Music Group’s label 3 Beat Records, and has released her second single Blind.

After working for several theatre schools across the UK, Jake decided to create a theatre school that offers the highest level of training with affordable tuition.

At Freestyle Theatre Schools, each student attending learns singing, dance, and drama, rather than just one specific area

Jake said: "One of our success stories that stand out as it is, Heidi and her amazing achievements she is making through her incredible music. Considering she walked through our doors many years ago with not a slight bit of confidence and had never sung a note or felt confident to in front of anyone, this is until she discovered and attended our classes and now these many years later to now being signed by one of the biggest record labels world wide is something we are very proud of her for.

"More recently our student Parker Pearson has recently gone through a thorough audition process and has been given one of the main characters in this years pantomime with Joe Pasquale at the cliffs as he is playing John in Peter Pan."

Jake’s goal is to modernise the way the theatre school operates while modernising what students learn. By doing so, classes are more relatable and fun for students.

The first school opened in Leigh-On-Sea, with a modern twist using commercial styles such as Street Dance, Pop Singing/Rap, and up-to-date modern Drama styles.

The regular great feedback receives shows Jake that his modern twist on a performing arts school is so much more relatable for children today.
