Police, fire and ambulance services rushed to the scene of a crash near a south Essex school this morning.
Shipwrights Drive, in Thundersley, was “partially blocked” after a car reportedly left the road and collided with a tree near The King John School.
The driver, a woman, was taken Southend University Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service told the Echo: “We were called just after 10am with reports that a vehicle had crashed into a tree on Benfleet Road in Thundersley.
“An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene.”
Drivers reportedly faced long delays in the area while emergency services dealt with the incident.
An Essex Police spokesperson added: “We were called to the scene of a collision in Shipwrights Drive, at about 10am.
“At the scene we worked with colleagues in the fire and ambulance service and temporarily closed the road. Officers left the scene at about 12.45pm.”
Firefighters were called to the scene but did not need to take any action.
