A BLAZE took over a first-floor bedroom and then ripped into the roof space of a semi-detached home in Leigh, leaving two people in the care of the ambulance service.
At 4.46am, firefighters were called to a fire at a property in Danescroft Drive where flames could be seen roaring from the roof.
On arrival, crews reported the first-floor bedroom was “100 per cent alight” with it spreading to the roof space, before using an aerial ladder to tackle the fire from above while crews wearing breathing apparatus worked to put out the flames from the inside.
Two people were then left in the care of the ambulance service.
A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to a house fire in Danescroft Drive, Leigh at 4.46am.
“On arrival, crews reported a first-floor bedroom in a semi-detached house was 100 per cent alight with the fire spreading to the roof space.
“Crews used an aerial ladder platform to tackle the fire from above the roof while firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus worked to extinguish the fire from inside.
“Two people were left in the care of the ambulance service.”
