AN ESSEX man has been jailed after breaching his criminal behaviour order by riding his bike in the city centre.
Jake Carter, 27 of Meadgate Avenue, Chelmsford was previously given a criminal behaviour order on Friday, November 24, which prohibited him from being in possession of a bike or e-scooter in Chelmsford City Centre.
On Saturday, officers from Chelmsford Town Centre Team arrested Carter on suspicion of two breaches of his criminal behaviour order. One of these instances included him riding his bike to a probation meeting.
He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates on Monday, where he was given an 11-month prison sentence.
Sgt Graham Thomas said “Carter demonstrated a complete lack of respect for his Criminal Behaviour Order by breaching it within days of it being issued.
“Carter had been issued with the CBO after he was previously found guilty of six assaults in the city which were unprovoked and intimidating.
“This order was given to keep the wider public safe from Carter’s actions and limit his ability to cause further distress to the public.
“Our Town Centre Team acted quickly following these reports of breaches and I’d like to thank the public for their support.”
