An Eastern European food store has unveiled a bid to open a new store in Basildon among five other public notices in recent weeks.

With work already underway on the new Home Foods shop in Winstanley Way ahead of the store opening, the business, which aims to make European food accessible to everyone, has submitted an application for a premises licence.

The store is proposing to sell alcohol between 9am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 9am to 5pm on Sundays.

Representations must be made in writing to Basildon Council by January 2.


Tree Fella will be carrying out tree maintenance works at various locations across the Southend borough this month.

As a result, a temporary prohibition of traffic, parking, waiting, loading and unloading is in force in Victoria Road, Chinchilla Road and Pentland Avenue until December 20.

Victoria Road will be shut from Northumberland Avenue to Woodgrange Drive and from Woodgrange Drive to Ambleside Drive.

Chinchilla Road will be closed between Southchurch Road and Riviera Drive, and Pentland Avenue is closed from Church Road to St Andrews Road and St Andrews Road to Caulfield Road.


CCR Property Services Ltd, of 1 Repton Close, Burnt Mill Industrial Estate, is applying for a licence to use the site as an operating centre for three goods vehicles. Representations must be made by December 27.


Southend Crematorium has applied to Southend Council to substantially vary their part b permit for the cremation of human remains at its Sutton Road site.

The application relates to the installation and use of new replacement abated cremation equipment.

Any written comments on the application should be made to Southend Council by 5pm on January 3.


A pedestrian and cycle zone and a prohibition of vehicles is set to be introduced in Ronald Hill Grove from its junction with Westleigh Avenue to its junction with Marine Avenue. This will be in force between 8.20am and 9.20am and 2.40pm and 3.40pm from Monday to Friday.

The order, which came into operation on December 8, will be open to feedback until January 19.


Lord Roberts Avenue is set to shut at its junction with London Road A13 on December 21 while Anglian Water works are carried out.

The closure will be in place from 7pm until 11pm with an alternative route available via Cliffsea Grove, Leigh Road or Chalkwell Park Drive and Leigh Road.
