Police say an incident in Westcliff after reports of a "disturbance" has now been resolved.
Essex Police was called to an address in Crowstone Road, Westcliff, this morning at 7am.
They earlier urged the public to stay away from the area while they worked "as quickly and safely as possible" to resolve the incident.
A spokesman for the force said the issue had now been resolved and a man had been subsequently arrested.
They said: "We have now resolved an incident that was ongoing in Westcliff.
"Officers attended the address in Crowstone Road shortly after 7am this morning following reports of a disturbance and concerns for people inside.
"They worked to resolve the situation quickly and safely and have now arrested a man.
"A woman will be left in the care of mental health professionals."
