A major south Essex road was shut off after a "police incident" with drivers facing long delays this afternoon.
The A129 was closed in both directions between Southend Road, near Bartlett Park in Wickford, and the A1245, near Carpenters Arms roundabout, following a police incident, according to Essex County Council's traffic control.

Drivers faced long delays in the area as a result.
The road has since re-opened after the incident cleared, according to the traffic control team.
Essex Police has been contacted for comment.
