A THUNDERSLEY actor is set to make his film debut in a horror take on a much-loved children’s movie next year following success in the West End.
Joseph Greenwood, 23, is set to take on the role of Harrison in Jagged Edge Production’s Bambi: The Reckoning, which follows from the success of the company’s previous hit Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
The film, which is set to be released in Autumn 2024, is inspired by the 1942 Disney animated classic, but it will transform the innocent deer into a “killing machine”.
It comes as the 23-year-old graduated from the University of Chichester Conservatoire in acting for film last year, which has led him to making his West End debut in the adult comedy pantomime Jack and His Giant Bigstalk.
Joseph said: “It doesn’t feel real.
“Their previous film was called Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, and that went really viral online, so I’m incredibly excited to be a part of the new film.
“It’s part of a collective based on classic children’s stories as they reach 100-years-old and enter the public domain.
“I can’t say too much about the film, but I’m playing the role of Harrison, the son of the two lead characters and is significant within the story.
“It’s absolutely surreal, and I’m really excited to see where it’s going to take me in the future.”
Some of the cast in Bambi: The Reckoning include 2018 Love Island contestant Samira Mighty, 28, and 63-year-old Nicola Wright, who stared in the 2023 ITV thriller series Malpractice.
Joseph landing a role in the film comes as he is performing as Daisy the Cow in the adult pantomime Jack and His Giant Beanstalk at The Prince of Wales Theatre, in Dury Lane.
He said: “We opened on December 8 and are running until December 22.
“It’s such a fun production to be involved in, and I even get people come up to me after the show asking for a photo.
“I absolutely love what I do, and I just feel incredibly lucky.”
